About Us

Blairpatrick Estate is a family operated vineyard in the Gladstone / Dakins Road viticultural area of the Wairarapa valley, situated amongst a larger community of vineyards and award winning wineries in this emerging wine producing area.

The vineyard is set on 20 acres close to the Ruamahanga River which runs its course through the valley floor of the Wairarapa district. At present the vineyard covers about 6 acres and totals some 5500 vines.  Three vintages have been produced since first planting vines in 2002, and the wines have all been crafted through the skilled hands of neighbouring German winemaker Karl-Heinz Johner.

The estate is the family home of owners Joanna and Tony Hayes, and their three children. The villa was originally built in Dannevirke where it remained for over 80 years before it was shifted on to this site in 2001. A tremendous amount of effort and vision has taken what were once arid grazing paddocks into an attractive and productive venture.
